Even Yoga , Naturopathy, Accupuncture , Chinese medicine may be in the practice of Alternative Medicine .

In general, Drug can be any substance, when it is absorbed into the body of a living organism, alters normal body function .
Pharmacology defines, a drug is a chemical substance used in the treatment , cure , prevention , or a diagnosis , of a disease or used to enhance physical or mental well being .
Broadly, Drugs are of two types Recreational and Medicinal , and most of the times Medicine is used as synonym to substitute drug in general sense .
Drug or Medicine is a chemical substance like other chemicals in the living organism but introduced from outside .
Recreational Drugs are various types can be extracted from plants or synthesized in the laboratory . Morphine , Cannabis , Nicotine are from herbal source and Heroine is a synthetic recreational drug . These type of Drugs are called generally Drug Abuse or Drug addiction .
Medicinal drugs are various types can be derived from various sources such as Plants , Animals , Minerals , Bacteria , Algae and synthetic drugs .

Medicines or Medicine is derived from a latin word ars medicina, means art of living . Now Medicine has become wide variety of meanings i.e. it is a subject where various ailments can be studied or it is a drug to treat various types of sufferings .
From ancient days Medicine is in the practice to treat ailments . This is practised and developed in Greek , India, China, Egypt and few other countries and Hippocrates is considerd as Father of Medicine .
In modern days Medicine has become a science in many forms Allopathic , Ayurvedic , Homeopathic , Unani etc .

Similarly, Medicines can be derived from various sources such as Plants , Animals , Bacteria , Algae , Fungi , Minerals , Human beings and most of the drugs are manufactured by arteficial synthesis now a days .

The term Drug or Drugs is commonly used synonym for the Medicine and Medicines in most of the text books .
