ANTIHISTAMINE DRUGS


Antihistamine Drugs are the agents which blocks Histamine receptors throughout the system i.e. body and stops all histamine inducing actions . Histamine receptors are responsible for various allergic reactions in the body sch as cold .
Antihistamine Drugs are classified into 4 types i.e H1 , H2 , H3 and H4 . H1 type antihistamines acts on H1 type receptors and H2 type acts on H2 type receptors and so on .
Antihistamines belongs to H1 receptor antagonists are used in various indications such as Common Cold , Vomiting , Sedation , Psychosis etc .
Antihistamines belongs to H2 recptor antagonists acts on Acid peptic disorders to acid secretion in the stomach because of H2 receptors presence in stomach .
Antihistamine Drugs belongs to H2 receptors antagonists are used in Peptic ulcer disorders to control acidic problems , and H3 , H4 antagonists are at experimental stage .
