CHOLESTERAL DRUGS

Cholesterol drugs are to reduce high cholesterol levels which will increase Cardiac risks . Blood Cholesterol is of 3 types like HDL , LDL and Triglycerides . Elevated LDL levels are dangerous and various drugs are available for the doctors to reduce LDL levels .
Cholesterol drugs are classified as:
1-HMG CoA Reductase Inhibitors : Atarvostatin , Fluvastatin , Lovastatin , Pravastatin etc .
2-Bile acid Sequestrants : Cholesevalam , Cholestyramine and Colestipol , Nicotinic acid .
3-Miscellaneous : These includes Gemfibrozil , Fenofibrate and Clofibrate .
These Cholesterol drugs have to be used strictly with Physcian’s prescription only after thorough diagnostic tests . Because, These agents cause various side effects and now reports are coming that these drugs will reduce brain functioning
