OSTEOPOROSIS DRUGS

Osteoporosis drugs are used to treat Osteoporosis which is a bone disorder which reduces the bone strength . This can occur generally after 50 years in males and in females after the menopause i.e. generally after 45 years .
This can be treated by 2 types of medications :
A- Anti Resorptive Osteoporosis drugs :
1- Biphasphonates: These are mainly useful for wemen Sodium alendronate , Risedronate , Ibandronate .
2- Estrogen analogs
3- Reloxiphene
4- Calcitonin
B- Bone Anabolic Osteoporosis drugs :
1- Teriparatide .
2- Cacium salts such as Calcium carbonate, Calcium citrate, Calcium lactate, and Calcium gluconate etc .
3- Sodium fluoride
C- Miscellaneous : Other Osteoporosis drugs are RANKL inhibitors Such as Denosumab , Strontium ranelate and Vitamin D3 .
