Drugs for Anxiety are also called Anxiolytics in medical terminology . These drugs also called as Anti Panic or Anti Anxiety agents . These drugs reduce anxiety acting on the brain or Central Nervous System .

2-Azapirones : Buspirone ,Gepirone .
3-Imidazoles : Medetomidine , Dexmedetomidine .
4-Anti Histamines: Hydroxyzines .
5-Miscillaneous : Barbiturates and others .
In Anxiolytic drugs , Benzodiazepines are considered to be safe that is why these Anxiolytics are sold as OTC , Over The Counter in the pharmacies with out prescriptions , but on long term use these agents can cause addiction . Most of these Anxiolytics causes moderate to severe sedation .
