BETA BLOCKERS DRUGS

Beta blockers drugs comes in the group of Antihypertensives . These agents are used to treat hypertension i.e. high blood pressure . These agents reduce the blood pressure near to normal and reduce the risk of heart diseases .
Beta blockers drugs reduce Blood pressure by acting on Central Nervous system and Peripheral Nourvous System . These agents principally acts on Beta adrenergic Receptors by blocking thsese receptor's action which are spread across the body. This group of Beta blockers drugs are considered as main antihypertensive agents because various advantages . These are again 3 types : Beta1 blockers Beta2 blockers and Non specific Beta blockers . In general all are called Beta Blockers .
The examples for Beta blockers drugs : Selective Beta 1 Blockers are Atenolol and Metaprolol ; Selective Beta 2 Blocker is Butaxamine (Not in use) and Non specfic Beta Blockers are Propranolol and Timolol . Even Beta 3 Blocking drugs also identified but Beta 1 and Non specific agents Clinically important .
Beta blockers drugs have to be used with the advice of Physician only and strictly not for self medication because these agents may cause sudden cardiac arrest .
