MIGRAINE MEDICINES

Migraine Medicines are used to treat Migraine . Migraine is a neurological syndrome chrarecterized by altered neuronal perceptions in the brain by severe headache and Nausea . Generally Maigraine is more in Wemen but even male also victims of this unbearable headache .
Migraine Medicines are Classified as :
1-Prevetive Type Medicines : Beta Blockers ( Propranolol ) , Calcium Channel Blockers ( Amlodipine ) , ACE inhibitors ( Acupril ) , Anti Histamines ( Flunarazine ) , Anti epileptics such as Topiramate , Valproate sodium , Herbs such as Feverfew and Natural medications such as Co-enzyme Q10 , Riboflavine and Magnesium sulfate can be considered .
2-Pain Relievers as Migraine medicines : Seretonin agonists such or Triptans ( Sumatriptan , Eletriptan , Rizatriptan ) are very useful when patient is sensitive to light and Sound ; Alkaloids ( Ergotamine , Caffeine ) ; Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs ( Ibuprofen , Paracetamol ) ; Tricyclic Antidepressants ( Amitriptyline ) ; Anti Emetics ( Metaclopramide , Prochlorperazine ) and Botax .
Opiates also can be considered when all Migraine medicines fail to relieve migraine pain, but these are addictive in nature .
Side Effects include Stomach upset, Dizziness, Nausea, Muscle weakness, Constipation, Ulcers , Dryness of the mouth are common with Migraine medicines . Triptans should not be taken if patient is with the history of Heart attack or stroke. Feverfew should not be taken people with Bleeding disorders .
Apart from Migraine medicines , certain precautionary measures can be taken to avoid migraine attacks . These are Keeping a diary of foods, hormone therapy or birth control pills like estrogen, which may be a trigger of migraines.
