ASTHMA MEDICINES

Asthma Medicines are used to treat Asthma, a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways characterized by Bronchospasm followed by airflow obstruction which can be reversed . Symptoms include wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.

Asthma Medicines are Classified as :
A-Fast Acting Agents : These are 3 types used to treat Acute Attacks .
1-SABA s : These are Short Acting Beta2 adrenoreceptor Agonists : e.g. Salbutamol this is used during attack tp treat serious attack .
2- Asthma Medicines of Anticholinergics : e.g. Ipratropium bromide .
3-Non Specific Adrenergic Agonists : e.g. Epinephrine but these agents use is reduced .

B-Long Term Control : These Asthma Medicines are used to stabilize the disease .
1-Glucocorticoids: e.g. Fluticasone
2-LABD s : These are Long Acting Beta2 adrenoreceptor Agonists .
3-Leukotrienes Antagonists : e.g. Zafirlukast
4-Mast Cell Stabilizers : e.g. Cromolyn sodium

C-Alternative Asthma Medicines :
Herbs such as Figs , Lemon , Indian gooseberry , Garlic , Ginger and even Honey can be choose as safe alternative medicine .
Herbal Asthma Medicines such as Lobelia has powerful anti spasmodic action , Cayenne pepper which increases total body wide circulation can be considered during attack . Chamomile can be taken as Medicine or even as green tea to reduce the disease .
Asthma Medicines For Inhalation : Herbs such as Eucalyptus and Peppermint oils through humidifiers is the best effective and cheap way to treat asthma . Even these oils has antibacterial activity too .

Asthma Medicines Side Effects : Long term use of Glucocorticoids may cause Osteoporosis and also observed increased incidence of Cataracts .
